Well... Have you recovered from Black Friday, yet? Did you do a lot of damage? Did you take advantage of the unbelievable deals Bob had at AAS all week? I know I NEED to get in on that ridiculous steal of a deal on the Quickutz 2 by 2's before they're all gone.
I guess I shouldn't get ahead of myself. This is Jenny. I'm here to introduce myself. I'm a longtime customer of the store and am currently on the Design Team at All About Scrapbooks. I've been scrapping forever, but really caught the bug shortly after the birth of my oldest kiddo 8 years ago. Besides designing scrappy goodies for the store, I'm now also your very own Blog Hostess. I'll be on here throughout the week to chat about the products coming into the store, giving you tutorials on fun stuff to make with your paper and glue, making a fool of myself with my fun little webisodes, and lots of other crafty stuff. When I fall into my bed at the end of the day after a crazy day caring for my brood of 5, I dream of scrappy goodness. And you are lucky enough to get to share in my creative spark.
I thought to start us off I'd share a quick tutorial of the project I made for November for the DT. I'm the girlie who made this... An uber easy little To Do Bulletin Board.
This easy peasy bulletin board practically made itself. Everything you see can be found on the shelves at AAS. Everything except the corkboard itself. I picked up a four pack of these at Target for almost nothing. I gathered: packs of brads and buttons, Pink Paislee's Fabric tags & Journaling sheet, Prima flowers, Sass paper, Making Memories wooden letters, Maya Road stick pins, rickrack and that exquisite paper from Webster's Pages Postcards from Paris line). From my stash I pulled stapler/staples, popdots, Ultimate Glue, shank cutter, and thumbtacks.
I started off by gluing a piece of sturdy cardboard to the back of the corkboard to beef it up a bit. I then grabbed my trusty pink Cutterbees and started cutting out those hot air balloons from the patterned paper. I adhered the rickrack around the edges of the board. Followed by gluing down the balloons (some with popdots) to the top edge. I cut up one of the journaling cards from the Pink Paislee paper and added a Sass border for a "title". I then used a portion of a fabric tag from PP. I distressed it a bit by fraying the edges and adhered in the lower right corner and added some stickpins for another layer of fun. See... don't forget those awesome bamboo letters...
Next comes the real fun part. Dump out all your brads and buttons. I used Little Yellow Bicycle, Pink Paislee, Sass, & BoBunny. Cut off the backs with your shank cutters or a really strong bad pair of scissors. Start layering them together adding flowers or leaves as you desire, and add a thumbtack to the back with your Ultimate Glue or Liquid Nails. Like so...
Cut out another journaling card and start making that To Do list...
Now wasn't that easy? Wouldn't these make fun gifts for family or even the teachers in your lives?
Well thanks for coming by and I'll be back real soon with some more craftiness. Leave me a comment if you have any questions on my project or if there's anything you'd like to see discussed here. Happy (almost ) Monday...
